Scottish Junior rally driver gears up for MSA British Rally Championship
Blair Brown and his co-driver Richard Simmonds from Duns are the only Scottish competitors in the DMACK Junior BRC that promises to showcase the talents of the best young drivers in 2-wheel drive R2 specification cars. The duo will be out in their Ford Fiesta R2T and are hoping the Scottish rally community will be supporting them all the way.
The classic Wales Rally GB stages promises to test the young Scottish crew but they are more than up for the challenge.
Blair said, “We’ve waited a long time and worked really hard for this opportunity which we hope will put us firmly on the radar as the junior team to watch but it’s not going to be easy. We’ve never competed in this event before and there is some serious competition with entries from Sweden, Norway and even Australia. Saturday night will be sort the men from the boys as the first two stages are in the dark. You need to be fully committed, half measures will count for nothing and we’re out for a win”.
The Mid Wales Stages is based in Newtown and runs over two days covering a total of 71 stage miles. The crews will have to face the steep Welsh forest roads with tight narrow sections, balancing speed with caution on a rally that demands a fine balance of bravery and brains.
