The British Rally Championship is set for an exciting new addition this season with the introduction of the UCRC China Rally Team. Born from a chance meeting at last year’s Severn Valley Stages, a new collaboration brings together expertise from both the UK and China, spearheaded by Callum Black and Jack Morton in their Fiesta Rally2.
The National Asphalt champion and BRC ace will join forces with fellow Fiesta driver Neil Roskell to mount an assault on the BRC Teams Title in 2025, and in doing so, brings an international flavour to the service parks of the BRC.
A chance meeting between Black and rally fan Williams Liu in 2024, brought about an opportunity to discuss potential new collaborations, with links to a successful rally school in China.
What started as an informal discussion soon developed into a shared vision for a new rally team that would represent the UK-China connection in motorsport. Leveraging Williams’ extensive network, the team has secured notable support for the 2025 season.
A breakthrough for the team came with the announcement of a partnership between Hainan Airlines and Manchester Airport. The partnership aims to promote Hainan’s flights between Manchester and China while expanding further into the UK market.
In addition to this, the team welcomes two major Chinese brands, St Lawrence and D S Sake, both of whom are looking to franchise in the UK. St Lawrence is a well-known name in the plumbing and heating sector, while D S Sake represents a premium sake brand expanding its presence internationally.
With these partnerships in place, the newly formed UCRC China Rally Team is set to make its competitive debut this weekend and Black today [Thursday] unveils his new for 2025 livery.
“The ‘UCRC China Rally Team’ represents our U.K. and China link and I’m excited to get to the start line of stage 1 on Sunday”, he says.
“It’ll very much be a sprint and I think the stage times will be tight between the top 10, but I’m confident if we can make the right tyre choice we can be at the sharp end.
“I’m grateful to Tim Hoare at Michelin for his support this year, as he did last year. I think Michelin is the best tyre out there and I’ve learnt so much about them over the last 12 months, I think the range is as good as it gets.
“Jack (Morton) will be along side me again, someone who I first rallied with in 2013. We gel so well in the car and are great mates, which goes a long way in this game. I’m lucky to have him with me.
586 Sports, led by father Steve Black will be running the car again this season, with the support of M-Sport.
