The BRC3 category has belonged to Aoife Raftery and Kyle McDaid during the opening two rounds of the season, with the Irish pairing producing a faultless start to their championship campaign aboard the Ford Fiesta Rally3.
Victory on the Severn Valley Stages immediately established Raftery as the driver to beat, and she backed that performance up with another commanding display on the closed roads of the Borders Competitions Jim Clark Rally. Once again combining impressive pace with a measured approach, Raftery secured her second consecutive BRC3 victory to maintain a perfect record heading into round three.
Whilst Raftery has enjoyed the ideal start, Junzhe Tang has already shown he has the speed to challenge. The Chinese driver adapted quickly to British rallying on his championship debut to finish second on the Severn Valley Stages alongside co-driver Tsungyu Hsieh, before misfortune struck at the Jim Clark Rally with an early retirement ending his hopes of another podium finish.
With two victories from two starts, Raftery arrives at the Grampian Forest Rally with maximum confidence and a healthy championship advantage. However, the fast Scottish gravel presents an altogether different challenge and Tang will be determined to bounce back as the BRC3 title fight enters its next phase.
