British Rally Championship reveals new media package for 2026

The British Rally Championship (BRC) will adopt an exciting new ‘social-first’ approach to its media coverage in 2026, delivering enhanced on-event content and a more immersive experience for fans, followers, and competitors alike.

Building on the success of its ever-growing digital presence, the UK’s premier rally series will transition away from terrestrial television coverage in 2026, instead focusing on a more ‘real-time’, dynamic and accessible online offering designed to bring audiences closer to the stories than ever before.

At the heart of the new strategy is a dedicated on-event video team tasked with capturing near-real-time content from the stages. From dramatic stage-side moments to service park interviews and exclusive behind-the-scenes insights, fans will be able to follow the story of each rally as it unfolds.

Working in collaboration with Drew B Media, the championship will produce a wide range of engaging short-form video content throughout each event, tailored for modern audiences and social platforms. This expanded output aims to place fans at the centre of the action, offering unprecedented access to the drivers, teams, and defining moments of every round.

In addition, Drew B Media will produce a comprehensive highlights programme for each round, which will be released on YouTube approximately 10 days after the event. The made-for-digital format represents a significant improvement in turnaround time and accessibility, with European Rally Championship presenter Peter MacKay providing commentary to guide viewers through the key moments.

New for 2026, the BRC will also introduce an enhanced stage-end production. Led by experienced broadcaster Chris Rawes, the updated format will feature on-screen graphics and additional cameras to better capture the atmosphere at the stop line. Familiar faces Matt Cotton and Bex Hinton will continue their reporting roles on the ground, ensuring continuity while elevating the overall presentation.

The revised stage-end coverage will be optimised for YouTube, marking a gradual shift away from Facebook’s live platform and aligning with the championship’s broader digital strategy.

Complementing the video output, dedicated photography from Spacesuit Media and an increased focus on social media engagement will further strengthen the championship’s storytelling, ensuring that every aspect of the BRC is showcased to a global audience.

“We are always looking at ways to enhance our on-event and post-event coverage of the BRC, and we believe that this year we can provide a new and exciting package for rally fans,” said BRC Manager Reece Tarren. “Of course, having ITV4 coverage has been great over the last two seasons, but the costs for such a production are prohibitive, so we had to look at alternatives.

“Social media remains the biggest outlet for the BRC, so it makes perfect sense to focus our efforts there. The experienced team we have assembled will ensure that fans, competitors, and stakeholders receive the coverage they deserve, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how it develops over the course of the season.”

More information on live broadcast timings will be available ahead of the opening round, the Severn Valley Stages on 11 April.
