Coleman back for more with Junior BRC campaign

19-year-old Casey Jay Coleman will return to the Junior British Rally Championship this season, after contesting selected rounds of the series in 2021.

Piloting a Suirway Group-backed Fiesta Rally4, the Tipperary ace and co-driver Adam Coffey will make a comeback in the hotly contested championship, going head-to-head with progressive youngsters for the coveted title.

“In 2021 in my first year in Rally4 [machinery] we took part in selected rounds of the BRC to gain experience as well as rallies at home in Ireland” he explains.

“I feel like over the last two years my speed and confidence have improved a lot and hopefully this year we can improve even more and put up a battle against the guys that have more experience on these rallies.”

“The competition this year will be tough, the pace is going to be hot and with not a huge amount of experience in the BRC it will be a huge learning curve but I’m looking forward to it and hopefully as the year progresses, we can prove ourselves.”

Coleman started his competitive driving career in karting, becoming the Irish Senior IAME champion before moving into the hotly contested J1000 category in late 2018. In 2022 he won the South East Stages Championship in Ireland as well as a first place finish in the Under 25 category in Rally4 Laghi in Italy. An RC4 class win in Galway International Rally was an impressive start to 2023.

Now, he will face several new events on the BRC roster and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“The BRC has always been a great platform for young drivers and I feel like it’s a great championship for getting your name out there and to showcase your speed”.

“I’m really looking forward to rallies such as Jim Clark and Ypres and also the brilliant gravel rallies such as the Cambrian.”

“This year I’m hoping to gain some good experience on new rallies and be consistent to bring home finishes with the best results possible to make the most of this opportunity. It would be nice to be up there with the guys so let’s see.”
