Nick Heard will add variety to the National Rally Title field this season as he contests the Probite British Rally Championship in a Ginetta G40.
The unique example is often found on the race circuits across the globe, but Heard has campaigned the two seater sportscar on the stages for a number of years, mainly tackling the Circuit Rally Championship and single venue events. In 2023 a selected number of closed-road outings inspired him to spread his wings.
Now, he and co-driver Oliver Mathinson will step into the BRC and will not only compete for the National Rally Title, but will do so entirely on Carless Hiperflo ECO98 R70 – a sustainable fuel from BRC control fuel suppliers Carless.
Hiperflo ECO98 R70 is an advanced fuel blend incorporating 70% second-generation bio-components derived from agricultural waste. The remaining 30% comes from fossil-based hydrocarbons and specific additives. Notably, it leads to a significant 50% decrease in new greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional fossil fuel at combustion.
The choice of 70% sustainable content is a pragmatic balance between environmental goals and the current availability and cost of bio-based raw materials. As the availability of such materials improves at lower prices, the proportion of sustainable components in our fuels is expected to increase.
Heard will also take the Ginetta out onto the gravel for the first time at the Rallynuts Severn Valley Stages and is looking forward to his BRC debut.
“I have always watched the BRC and thought; one day!” he says.
“We just thought let’s do something different and get the Ginetta out on tarmac and gravel and have some fun. The competition will be very tough and I think there will be a few people with a lot of experience in these events! We will try and get up to speed as quickly as we can”
