Welshman Ioan Lloyd will make a return to the Junior British Rally Championship this weekend, as the Peugeot Sport 208 Rally4 pilot rejoins at the Modern Tyres Ulster Rally
Lloyd, 20 from Llandysul was a front-runner in the hotly contested Junior BRC last season, scoring two podium places at the Grampian and Rali Ceredigion.
In a season blighted by misfortune, the young charger still secured fourth in the championship and regularly set some impressive times against the experienced Juniors around him.
Along with co-driver Sion Williams, Lloyd elected to head to Ireland in 2023 and instantly made his mark, winning the RC4 class at the Rally of the Lakes and the Cork 20.
Now, the pairing return to the BRC to go toe-to-toe with rivals such as Kyle White, Kyle McBride and Casey Jay Coleman.
“We’ve had a really good season so far sampling some fantastic Irish tarmac events that I’ve always wanted to do,” says Lloyd.
“I’m really looking forward to Ulster on the weekend, it’ll be great to be racing against the BRC boys again, you can never really predict how it’s going to go but we’ll just have to see who’s feeling good on the weekend, but we’ll be trying our best that’s for sure.”
Lloyd and Williams have elected to join the BRC but not score points, to ensure they do no interfere with the title chase at this stage of the season.
The Modern Tyres Ulster Rally takes place over two days [18-19 August], offering over 90 miles of fast Northern Ireland lanes around the Newry base.
