With more than forty editions as a rally sprint, last year the “Monteberg” was given an upgrade. Apart from the classic special stage on the Monteberg, a second special stage, Busseboom, was added to the programme with a view to offering the competitors more driving pleasure and pace. This change quite clearly was to everyone’ taste, both among the competitors and the spectators. With his Ford Fiesta R5 Hans Weijs Jr convincingly claimed victory, in front of the two Mitsubishi machines of Piet and Sander van Hoof. A complete Dutch podium. This demands a reaction from the local specialists in 2018…
The regulations of the Short Rally Monteberg are available on www.monteberg.com. The event moves to Westouter, where the Rally HQ will be located in the “Corneblomme” hall (Poperingestraat 4 in Westouter).
The Short Rally of the Monteberg is a highly compact competition. Ideal as a test session before Ypres and perfect to get the hang of what the renowned ‘cutting in’ means. Following the administrative checks and scrutineering on Saturday, also the day for the recces, serious work begins on Sunday 6th May as from 08.30hrs. The competitors will need to tackle the special stage 4 times on the Monteberg (10,76 km) and 3 times the Busseboom (8,47 km) special stage, good for some 68,45 km against the clock and more especially a full day of rally pleasure on a challenging course. The compact “Monteberg” remains the ideal preparatory competition before the Renties Ypres Rally.
The regulations are available on www.monteberg.com. Registrations will be open as from 26th March. Don’t wait too long, because it will soon be full!
