In the Cadet Cup, Scottish driver Finlay Retson in his Ford Fiesta R2 broke his BRC duck – making him the third different winner in as many events. The Scottish driver with co-driver Tom Hynd made up for the two retirements on the Pirelli and Ypres rallies and punched in 10 out of 11 fastest stage times to dominate the class and haul him back into championship contention.
Jordan Reynolds and Peredur Davies returned to the rostrum after a retirement in Belgium to finish second to put him at the summit of the standings in their Ford Fiesta R2. Local fans were delighted to see Johnnie Mulholland and Jeff Case clinch the final spot on the podium on their home event to move him up the Cadet Cup standings order.
Bart Lang and Sinclair Young were sadly absent and had to watch the event unfold at home and will be eager to impress on Rally Isle of Man next time out. Will Graham will unlikely return to the series due his Fiesta catching fire during a BTRDA event in the summer break but the youngster enjoyed a sideways ride in a BMW M3 on the Ulster with Dad Ernie at the wheel.
Fred Field and Josh Davison missed the Ulster as they were competing in the German ADAM Cup and will hopefully make a return on the Manx classic next time out.
John Morrison and Peter Carstairs thoroughly enjoyed their Ulster escapade, taking maximum National Rally Cup points.
