Cambrian Rally announces Cloc Main comeback

An iconic stage which hasn’t been used by any rally for many years is being brought back into use for this month’s Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally.

The use of Cloc Main is part of a phased return of motorsport to the Clocaenog complex, but is subject to a number of restrictions which the organisers must adhere to, one of which is that is strictly a NON SPECTATOR stage.

Deputy clerk of the course Alyn Edwards: “We are very excited about going back into Cloc Main and very honoured that North Wales Car Club have been trusted to demonstrate that events can be run in these areas.

“However, can we please ask that all spectators observe the wishes of Natural Resources Wales and RWE and do not go to Cloc Main so we can get it back into mainstream forestry motorsport for future use. This stage has been missed from the event for many years and now is the chance to experience classic rally roads which are in top condition.”

As in previous years, the event is entirely based in Conwy county with road mileage kept to a minimum. It has a high profile start and finish on Llandudno promenade, and an added benefit for sponsors is the provision of a hospitality facility at Llyn Brenig which when introduced last year proved to be a great success with tickets selling very quickly.

The Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally is a round of the British Rally Championship, the MRF Tyres British Trials and Rally Drivers Association Championship, the Motorsport UK Pirelli Welsh Championship, Bowler Motorsport Championship, the Mini Rally Challenge, the IPS Paint Challenge, and the Association of North Western Car Clubs Championship. It is supported by Conwy County Borough Council and Llandudno Town Council who value the contribution makes to the local economy.

Entries for the event are open and regulations are available to view at www.cambrianrally.co.uk and there are news updates on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
