Incentive scheme for Vauxhall ADAM competitors

The Vauxhall Motorsport Junior Rally Team is pleased to confirm that it will be offering substantial incentives, including a free entry for the 2017 Rally GB National Rally, to the highest placed competitor driving an ADAM Cup specification car in this year’s Prestone MSA British Rally Championship Cadet class. As well as the first prize, incentives include prize vouchers that can be exchanged for products, together with discounted parts and technical support for registered competitors.

This year’s incentive scheme will be followed in 2018 by the introduction of the Vauxhall ADAM Rally Cup, a high profile one-make series specifically for controlled specification ADAMs. As well as a prize fund and awards presented on each round and at the end of the season, the series will feature driver development and promotional opportunities, with the winner offered a career-enhancing first prize.

Competitors will be able to purchase a brand new ADAM Cup car manufactured by Major Motorsport at a discounted rate. Alternatively, it will be possible to acquire a second-hand car that has previously been used in a European series together with a kit of parts to convert the car to UK specification. This will include the recently developed ‘gravel’ package.

Simon Mauger of Major Motorsport, believes the ADAM Cup has huge potential: “I think British rallying is crying out for a high profile one make series like this to help bridge the gap from club rallying to the BRC. The ADAM Cup cars are reliable and approximately half the price of an R2 car and cheaper to run, but are not that much slower and just as fun to drive.

“We have done a lot of work developing a reasonably priced gravel kit and will have new cars available and ready for 2018, plus there are plenty of good second hand ADAM Cup cars out there for anyone interested in buying one and then fitting the UK gravel kit.”

A Cup specification ADAM made its UK gravel Rally debut recently on the Somerset Stages Rally, in the hands of motorsport PR man Simon Slade. The car ran faultlessly throughout the event and at the finish Simon was more than impressed: “This is such a fun and forgiving car to drive. Both my co-driver and I enjoyed the rally immensly.

“As I’m likely to be involved with the ADAM Cup series, this was a great opportunity to try the car out for myself, so I can relate to what it’s like to drive and know what the competitors will have to look forward to – which is a lot! The car didn’t miss a beat and even the tyres still looked like new at the finish. It could have easily gone on to do another rally without having to put a spanner on it!”

The same car will take part in its second gravel rally this weekend, when Austalian driver Arron Windus competes in the RSAC Scottish Rally, round three of this year’s Prestone MSA British Rally Championship.
